Dr Hui was trained in the UK, and after specialist training in respiratory medicine there, he undertook research in novel treatment of asthma in London at the world class research institute of NHLI (affiliated to the Royal Brompton Hospital) and the London Chest Hospital. The research work was awarded the honourable degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) at University of Notthingham.
During clinical practice as Senior Consultant in multi-cultural backgrounds (National University Hospital, Singapore; as well as in Sydney, Australia), post-doctoral research interest was maintained, not just in asthma, and expanded into diverse areas of respiratory diseases. Research on asthma, sepsis (severe infection), pneumonia, tuberculosis, COPD, non-invasive ventilation and Intensive Care led to more than 100 publications in international peer reviewed journals and presentations in international scientific meeting.
The latest focus of research is in the practice of respiratory medicine in real life patients in the local ethnic and social settings.
